HAPPY BIRTHDAY KYLEE!!!

Today my Kylee is 7 years old. I wanted to record the story behind Kylee being born. Josh and I didn't find out what we were having, so we were more than anxious for "it" to be born. I was teaching full time and my actual "due date" was Friday the 9th. I worked on that day and felt GREAT. Not exactly the way you want to feel on your due date. I had not had ANY contractions, Braxton Hicks, or anything else that comes along with having a baby. The weekend was normal and Saturday night in the middle of the night was the first time I had ANYTHING. Of course I was able to fall right back to sleep, so again, nothing. I called my "long-term sub" on Sunday and told him he could start for me on Monday at school, that I was ready to be done. So on Monday, I still had no baby so I thought I would run some errands and get a few things done. Josh was working full time and in school full time, so he was gonna be gone all day. His parents had just moved here, so he called his mom and asked her if she could run some errands with me so I wasn't by mayslf. So she picked me up and we went to Target. We went our seperate ways in the store, and as I was walking, contractions started coming, And I mean REALLY COMING. I will never forget that I was standing in the section with all the big plastic bins, and I had one hand on the side of my cart, and the other hand down on my knee, hunched over, as I was trying to get past a contraction. And then...some guy, probably in his mid 30's, remember I am 27 at this point, so he wasn't much older than me, stops and says:
Man: "Umm, mam are you ok?"
Me: "Yes I am fine."
Man: "Are you sure?"
Me: "Yes, I'll be ok."
Man: "Mam, when is your baby due?"
Me: "Ummm, last Friday."
He's a little freaked out at this point.
Man: "Uhhh, are you here by yourself?"
Me: "No, my mother-in-law is here somewhere."
Man: "Do you think we should go find her?"
Me: "Yes, I will go look for her. Thank you."
I go to look for her and he follows me, from far behind.
Anyways, we get in the car and we head over to Safeway. My contractions had stopped once I sat down, but as I was relaying the story to my MIL, we decided I better start timing them. I'm not sure I really knew how to do that, I just decided to count how many contractions I had while we were in the store. I don't remember the number now, but it was quite a few, but nothing hard like while I was in Target.
Well I came home, Josh left work and went to his first class for the evening at ASU and during that time I was writing down on paper each time a contraction came. I did that during his whole first class and when he called me inbetween classes, I told him he better some home. He got home at 8:30 and I was still laying on the couch. He decided to do some quick cleaning, and I started packing a bag. What kind of first mom is already 4 days late and doesn't even have a bag packed yet??? I got in bed at 9:30 and O MY GOSH!!! I wasn't even there for 2 minutes and got the biggest, hardest, contraction ever. Josh came running into the room and after I had 2 more like that, we were out the door. We called my mom in CA and she said she would be on a plane first thing in the morning. We arrived at the hospital on Power and Baywood at 10:15 and they took me back to a room. They checked me and I was only at a "1" Do you know she had the nerve to tell me "I will be back in an hour to check you again and if you haven't made progress, I will have to send you home. "WHAT!!!" I was already 4 days late and she was gonna send me home??? Luckily for me, I was at a "2" when she returned so I was staying. AND BRING ON THE DRUGS!!! I was kinda a freak about not having an epidural. I didn't want to not feel anything. So if at all possible, I wanted to do it without one. I was able to get a dose of drugs every hour and that was also how fast I dialated. 1 centimeter an hour. So yes, with your fast calculations, I didn't get to a "10" until just after 8:30 am. The doctor came in, 2 pushes, and at 8:47 out came a beautiful 8lb. and 21 1/2 in. baby girl. I was thrilled, and crying. Josh was crying, and I held my baby girl.
Kylee Ann Hough. Kylee spelt with the "lee" because that is my middle name, and Ann for my moms middle name. The doctor said I did great and he would only be behind schedule in the office a tiny bit for the day. I proudly told him I was his first scheduled 9:00 appointment, and he wasn't going to be late at all. He laughed, and left and said he would return tomorrow.
Now what happened the next 4-6 hours, I CAN HARDLY REMEMBER. I was so glad I had had this baby without the epidural, but Ohh My...the drugs were in me full force. I WAS OUT!!! I don't remember visitors, and I have no recollection that Josh left and picked my mom up at the airport. It wasn't until after lunch that I felt like the drugs were wearing off and I could function. I felt soo blessed to have a beautiful, healthy, baby girl. Here are the things I love about her most.
1. She has such a "tender heart."
2. She is a smart girl who works hard in school and in everything she does.
3. She loves her brother and sister, and takes good care of them.
4. She is kind to her friends and is such a good example to them. She is liked by everyone.
5. She is strong willed and independent and is not easily pursuaded by friends, or parents. She has a drive and determination to always be the best.
6. She loves songs and music. She has loved this from the beginning in my belly. When I would be teaching PE and have music on for the kids, she was always inside kicking away.
7. She is mine, my first born, my biggest helper, and chosen first to be in our family. I love her so much. Happy Birthday Kylee.

This story is why I was induced a week early with my first child! I didn't want to "go into labor" b/c I was totally freaked out about it. So instead, I opted for 32 hours of labor and the ending result of a c-section! I'm now a c-section gal for life per my doc! But way to go! I'm impresses you didn't have any drugs!
