I hardly know where to begin. Josh and I just spent an amazing week in Alaska. Seven full days without kids on a ship, being waited on hand and foot. No cooking, no cleaning, no responsibilities. Just pure enjoyment.
We had wonderful food on board. I am not very daring when it comes to trying new things, but if there was anything I ever wanted to try, I could have. If you check out Jamie and Joe's blog, she has the running list of the crazy food they offered us. If is fair to say that WE DID NOT GO HUNGRY!!!
These pictures were taken outside the Amalfi Dining Room. We ate here every night. And why wouldn't we?? John was our waiter, and our assigned table was right next to a large window. We couldn't have "paid" for a better table. Which my dad was willing to do by the way. It was just one more thing that made this trip absolutely perfect.
We have my parents to thank for this wonderful trip. I am #2 in my family of 5 married girls and this past Christmas my parents gave us all a "vacation" ...to be determined. It was up to each of us to pick a "time of year" we could get away as husband and wife, no kids, and then they would choose the location. Each of us discussed times that would be best for us and asked my parents what types of vacations we could be looking at at certain times of the year. Once "an Alaskan cruise" was thrown in to the conversation, 3 of us latched on. And that was it. There would be 8 of us going. We were thrilled.
It seemed to far off, but there was so much to do to prepare. Especially since I was leaving all three kids behind for a very long time. We have a busy schedule, and it needed to be all planned out for Josh's parents who were staying at our house with them for the week. We are so grateful for them and the sacrifices they made to take such great care of our children.
I will now probably finish this post in "days" according to what we did. We flew into Seattle Sunday morning with my parents, (Mother's Day) and my sister Jamie was there to get us (She lives there). Her husband Joe flew in a few minutes after us. ( He took their kids to Utah for the week.) My sister Nicole and her husband Todd were already at the ship waiting for us.
We made it to the ship, got all checked in, and were on board. We set sail at 4:00 and for the next 40 hours we ate, slept, ate, played cards, ate, ate, and ate again. We were at sea until Tuesday morning.
