Soccer Season

Well today marks the first official day of Soccer Season and busy Saturdays. Kylee and Kobi are both playing soccer again this year and are on different teams. Last year Kobi struggled as a 1st year player and was very happy to hang back from everyone and pick flowers in the grass and twirl around by herself. Literally, I don't know where this child comes from sometimes. Kylee was also the youngest player in her division last year and she didn't really struggle, but she wasn't as aggressive as she once was. So we were hoping for BIG changes this year, and really we have decided that this could be a turning point for Kylee for deciding if soccer is something she really wants to do or not.

Kobi played first at 9:00 and did SUPER. She was actually running after the ball, kicking it, dribbling it, and scored a goal right at the beginning. She was thrilled and just had a HUGE smile on her face. She ended up scoring 2 more goals and NEVER ONCE complained about being hot or tired. She did so great and really had fun out there. Wahoo, I was so proud of her. She is #10 this year on the Kick'n Chicks, and lucky for her, their team is PINK.

Now in case you wanted to come watch Kylee, you will have no problem finding us. She is #8 and they are the Green Dragons and I am not kidding when I say they are Fluorescent Green. I seriously think her uniform can glow in the dark. But after watching her today, I have taken quite a liking to the color. Kylee plays on a much bigger field than Kobi and their quarters are a lot longer. She still wasn't as aggressive as I would like, but she is a fast runner and can kick the ball hard. She was a forward the whole first half and almost scored 2 goals. The first one stopped right on the line on the goal and didn't go in. The Ref. wouldn't call it a goal even though everyone was cheering, but the ref had made it VERY clear before the game that no one could go into the half circle at the goal to kick the ball. So after everyone was standing around watching, the other team kicked it out and they kept playing. About 2 minutes later Kylee kicked it again and it stopped IN THE EXACT SAME PLACE. Again the team was cheering, and no one went into the circle to make sure it was in, but this time the ref counted it. So she scored her 1st goal. She was so excited and VERY TIRED afterwards.

I was so proud of them both. They did a great job today and I hope they love playing soccer all season.

Your girls are so cute. Lexie ended up playing soccer afterall. We got a call from her old coach asking her to play up on his older daughters' team so she is playing on a 10u team. All our games are at discovery park, is that where you are playing? Maybe we'll see you around.

Josh was telling me about their games last night on our way to the ASU game. It sounds like this year will be a make-it or break-it deal for Kylee. I'm so glad they're both playing, and Josh even offered us shelter from the sun when we come watch. We'll have to find a nice, early morning game to come out and see the girls play.

Kobi's hair is getting so long! They both look adorable, so grown up, and so much alike! Gabs had her first game on Saturday. She did so well hustling and running after the crowd that was running after the ball. It was so funny to watch!
