First Week of School

Oops, I just got onto my blog for the first time in over a week to write about the girls' first week of school to only realize I had started to write a post on their first day of school. So here is what I write last Monday titled:

"New Year"

It is another school year. Wow and it is only July. My girls are back in school and my house is quiet again. Kylee is in 3rd grade this year and Kobi in 1st grade. Where has the time gone? It is hard to believe I have raised these girls for 8 and 6 years. They were so excited to wake up today and get dressed in their new clothes and tennis shoes and wear their new backpacks. I love to see the smiles and joy in their faces. I hope they have a great day. I sure do love these girls. They often fight and make me crazy, but they sure do make me proud.
Kylee 3rd grade - July 27, 2009

Kobi 1st grade - July 27, 2009

That was before they got home from school. After they got home, we found out that Kylee had a great day and that Kobi was asked 4 or 5 times (so she says) to stop talking. I thought "oh man we are starting off the year just like we ended the last one." We had a huge talk about how she was a year older and needed to to better. Tuesday's plan was only 1 warning. That's it!!! I was very pleased to talk to her teacher after school and to be told that she had had a much better day and was much less chatty. Phew....

We built on that afternoon and started to put marbles into a jar for each day that she didn't have to flip her card from "green". The reward would be out to dinner with mom and dad when she filled her jar. I think it is working. The rest of her week was great with no flipped cards. We were so proud of her. And Kylee, well she will be the bright spot in her classroom. Her teacher loves her, and has already told me how much she enjoys having her in there. Yahoo for me.

I can't believe that this summer is almost done! We start next Wednesday. It is crazy that Brett Fuller is in your ward. We all need to get together some time. Once things quiet down!!

I hope you enjoy your quiet house and not get lonely. It seems weird to me to imagine my house with kids gone at school. It's gonna feel lonely I know it.
Does Kobi's backpack weigh more than her? Love it!
