Phase 1

So we have been in our house for over a year now and we have had no backyard landscaping. It hasn't been that bad, but soon.....yes I do mean soon, the weather will be changing from this awful 110 degrees and the kids will want to play outside. We have been waiting for the right time to begin, but Josh has been working a lot of hours lately and there was just no time. We finally got some bids for all the different things we wanted and when the bids came back, we didn't want to spend that much money. The big one way out of our budget was the underground irrigation. So Josh decided to do it himself. O my gosh...would the backyard ever get done??

It was Labor Day Weekend, so we thought maybe. He rented a Ditch Witch and was up early at Home Depot Saturday morning. His dad and brother came over to help, but there wasn't much for them to do yet. It took more time that he thought to figure out exactly where to trench. But after 2 more trips to Home Depot, he had it all figured out. He was able to finish trenching on Saturday and turn the Ditch Witch back in. Thanks Dave and David for your help.
So on Monday he had to continue. All of the piping needed to be done. The concrete guys were coming Tuesday morning, so there was a time limit. He didn't really know what he was doing, although he was figuring it out along the way, just someone with even the slightest bit of experience would have been helpful. So after slaving away all morning and taking a swim and bar-b-que break in the afternoon, we got some help. Josh humbled himself and called the brother-in-laws. Todd and Austin came over to help put him out of his misery. Both have landscaped their own yards, so having another opinion and extra sets of hands was a HUGE bonus. They worked until dark, and continued with the bright light after dark, and there might even have been yet another Home Depot run in there. Whatever it took, Todd and Austin stayed til the end and we are so grateful.

Wow that looks like such hard work! I am a little jealous though, I still have just dirt!
