How does her mind work???

So a friend of mine had the sweetest post about her son the other day, and reading it prompted me to record the things Kobi has been talking about the past few weeks. OH my little Kobi, I have to write this post really for my own good. So sorry if it is not interesting to anyone else. For those of you that don't know my Kobi very well, she has been my struggle. She has a mind of her own. She is wonderful at preschool and when other people are watching her, but as is the case with a lot of people, she is MUCH DIFFERENT at home. She is my trial and tests my patience everyday. She is not quite 4 1/2 and I just know that one of these days, the terrible 2's will end. Now on the other hand, she is a very SWEET and LOVING little girl. She loves to cuddle, and sit on your lap when she wakes up in the morning or from a nap. She has the cutest little face with an adorable hair cut and a cute little dimples on each cheek. I love her to pieces. She loves to bear her testimony at church and is asking each week "can I bear my testimony today?" She has ALWAYS had a tender heart and is the most amazing little girl around older people. She loves her great grandparents to pieces. She is so gentle with them, loves them, hugs them, sits on their laps and it is recognized by all that witness their interactions. And it is even more amazing that none of them even live in Arizona, so we don't see them often, and she just warms up to them so easily when she see them. OK so that was kinda a long preface to what I really want to say, so here goes.

A couple of weeks ago each night at dinner, she would begin asking questions about Heaven. This went on for quite some time each night. Questions like: What will it look like? Who will be there? How old will I be there? Where will I sleep? Will I know anyone when I get there? Will an airplane take me that high in the sky? And then there were questions like: Who will take care of me if you and daddy die first? Will Grandma and Grandpa Kreipl and Grandma and Grandpa Hough already be there? We tried to answer these questions as best we could. How much can a 4 year old really take in? Then at some point the questions changed to:

Kobi: Mom who's belly were you in?
Me: Grandma Kreipl's
Kobi: Who's belly was daddy in?
Me: Grandma Hough's
Kobi: Well what about Grandma Hough?
Me: She was in Great Grandma Schouten's
Kobi: What about Grandpa Hough?
Me: He was in Great Grandma Hough's
Kobi: What about Grandpa Kreipl?
Me: He was in Great Grandma Kreipl's
Kobi: Well then who's belly was Grandma Kreipl in?
Me: Well she was in Great Grandma Cobb's belly
Kobi: Who's Great Grandpa Cobb???

Well that quick conversation has led to many conversations about Great Grandma and Great Grandpa Cobb who Kobi never got to meet. I was only a young girl when they passed away, so I certainly have momories of them, and we were able to talk about them, but she is so intrigued by this Great Grandma Cobb that I didn't know what else to tell her. I finally called my mom and asked her to come over and bring some pictures so that she could tell Kobi some stories.

I wish I knew how these little children think of these things and can process all this information. So I know I have rambled on long enough, but here were a couple of funny things Kobi has said in the last two days.

Yesterday:
Kobi: Mom will I have babies?
Me: Well probably, when you are older.
Kobi: If I'm the mom, who will the dad be?
Me: I don't know, I don't think you have met him yet.
Kobi: Well I don't want to have babies.
Me: Why not?
Kobi: I don't want them to crack my belly open.

Oh my...we don't really have this discussion with a 4 year old do we? We carefully sidestepped that one.

Today:
Kobi has on a blue shirt and khaki shorts for preschool. Pink clip in her hair. I say
Me: Kobi we need to go get a new clip for your hair, pink doesn't match.
Kobi: Yes it does mom.
Me: No, you have a blue shirt on, we need a blue clip.
Kobi: Uh HELLO, it matches my eyes.
Me: Umm no, Kobi you have big brown eyes.
Kobi: No I don't, remember the doctor told you I have
"pink eyes"

Ohh ya....that was 6 months ago.

Kobi is wonderful. She is a blessing to have in our home. I know she is a product of Josh and I and we have her here with us for a very special reason. I love you Kobi.
Here are some sweet pictures of her great grandma and grandpa's and a picture of the Great Grandma and Grandpa Cobb she never got to meet.

Uh Hello! Why can I hear Kobi saying that perfectly! That story made me laugh out loud! Kids memories are amazing! I know she'll grow out of what you call her terrible two's...but from what I've been told it may not be until she's 7.

How funny! I love those conversations...not really, but they are pretty funny to look back on. The first day were in WA I was changing Dax's diaper and little Miss Gabriella was so curious... "What's that?" Uhhh?? Jamie and I just started laughing and I was glad Jamie took over that conversation! :)

I am still laughing at the "pink eye" story! That was a sweet post. I don't know her very well, but I do know that whenever I see her at church I think that she is the cutest thing with her litle hair cut and dimples.
