What a fun evening we had tonight. I have my parents and 3 married sisters that all live within 5 miles of here, and one sister that was in town with her two girls from Washington. We decided to do a Progressive Dinner so that we could see everyone's decorated homes and it was so much fun. Each one of us would "host" part of the meal at our house, and leave each family with a "parting gift," kind of a "thank you for coming." We started at my sister Byrn's house who lives in Cortina with appetizers. She made some yummy meatballs, a spinach dip, and some mini chicken tacos things that were a huge hit. We left there with a cookie sheet and Christmas cookies. Yum Yum. The kids will love those, and it won't even make a mess.

Family Progressive Dinner
We then came to my house for the salads. Easy green salad I had. No mess, paper plates, I lucked out. I made the cutest things....I saw them on someones blog last Christmas ( I was blog stalking someone in Utah) and I have had it saved on "my favorites" for a year now. I knew I wanted to do this for my sisters and neighbor friends since last year. I am so glad the time is now and it was so fun to make them. I will post pictures of them later, but it was a huge hit and all my sisters and mom want to do them also for VT's and their neighbors. So I have to call my "vinyl lady" and have her print out a bunch more. Super cute.
Anyways, we then went to my parents house in Seville and had Enchiladas and R
ice. Super yummy. They had their table covered in white paper for the kids to draw on while they ate, and it kept them pretty occupied while we ate. Mom always does cute things and each family got a bowl with a very nice Christmas Story, and lots of goodies inside. Including a Christmas picture of us 5 girls when we were young. I love it. We got our traditional new Christmas book and an ornament.
We were th
en off to Nicole's house, she lives at Higley and Williamsfield. She and Jamie (the one from Washington) had a craft for all the kids. It was white mugs that we painted all the kids thumbs and made prints on the mugs. We then drew antlers and faces on them for reindeer. They were so so cute. We got matching Santa plates as our family gift. It was a very cute idea.
Jennifer's house was last and she lives in Coron
ado Ranch. We had the yummiest dessert at their house. Symphony candy bar brownies, Peppermint Oreo ice cream cake, and some cookies. It was just all way too good. We got cute picture frames from her house that I can put my updated pictures of the kids in.
All of the kids were so great tonight. Only a few small issues, but nothing too noticed. And I'm talking 11 kids and 6 of them are 3 and under. It was just a really great night. I am so lucky and feel so blessed to have my parents and 4 great sisters. We all get along so well and we have husbands that all get along. We are able to do these kinds of things, go on vacations and we all enjoy our time together. We are truly blessed. I am so grateful my parents live here close by and we are able to see them often. This was a wonderful evening, I hope we can make this a tradition. Thank you everyone for your hard work and creative skills.

Way to keep us in suspense! Oh, the joys of finding the perfect gift for neighbors, v.t., teachers, and the list goes on and on. I think we need a post where everyone puts their ideas together!:) Looked like such a fun family tradition!

Hey Shanen! I'm so glad my mom ran into you at church...crazy to see you with all your kiddos being a mom just like me after all these years! This week I just came across Addie's blog, so I've totally been reminiscing the "good old days"! My mom said she sent you my blog and email address, so cruise on over and check out my life...which parallels your pretty closely!! :)
Oh, PLEASE post details about the amazing gift idea for VT's etc.!
Wow, a ward one AND a family one...you go girl.
What a fun idea ..... too bad I'll never make it happen. Maybe we could hit few different restaurants? :-)
Can I come next year????
I love the idea of switching houses. All the festivities are at my house Sunday. I think next year we should share the love, if ya know what I mean. Looks like you have a great family!
