I didn't want to get soo far past my week that I didn't get a post up about the overall feeling of having 6 children to take care of. I had my 2 nieces and 1 nephew (12,8,5) with us for 9 days while their parents went on a cruise to the Western Caribbean. They cruised with my parents and one other sister and her husband. I wasn't too jealous, but we had our time last year when we cruised in Alaska.
I really wasn't nervous about having them here, it was just going to be a bit busier, and a little bit louder in my home. I certainly don't want to document about each day, I already highlighted the Tuesday a few posts back, but over all the week was really great.
My kids enjoyed having their cousins around 24/7. Even though we live 2 miles apart, the kids go to different schools, and our day to day activities are just different. We do see them, and the cousins know each other, well even, but they don't always just get to "play." And this week, they played. Every day after school, each night, every morning, and all weekend long. It was actually quite fun to watch them.
Cole and Kylee get along great. It was fun to watch them get along and play together outside. But I think the strongest bond might have been between Cole and Kruz. They were roommates, and truly connected at the hip. And it wasn't just Kruz always tagging along. I often heard Cole saying "Come on Kruz, lets go jump on the trampoline." "Come on, lets play basketball." "Lets go play cars." I really think Cole loved having a "little brother" and Kruz definitely loved having an "older brother."
We really had a good week. It really worked out well, and I think everyone had a good time. I am glad that they had such a good time on their trip, and glad that we lived close enough that we could watch their kids, and that everyone could carry on with their busy schedules.
I could do it again. Maybe not next month, but certainly it wouldn't be out of the question in the future. I am glad we could learn to love these cousins/nieces and nephews more, and that we have a better relationship with them now.
Thanks for coming to stay with our family.

How grateful we are that you doubled your family so that we could go away for some much needed r and r. We never worried about them once, just your and Josh's sanity! We love you so much!
I know it was hectic at times, but I'm glad that you would do it again...that means that I can be the stand in parent when needed again too. It sounds like all of you had a great time.
You're a good sister! I know Jenn didn't worry about them EVER. We're so lucky to have eachother!
I love the picnic picture! You guys are awesome! Such good parents and sister for doing that! I bet all the kids will remember that week forever!
I can't believe how old Taylor and Cole are. I remember when you would get their monthly picture when they were born! Crazy but I know that you did a great job with them and that they had tons of fun.
