I just knew....

it was a BAD idea.
Kylee came home from school early last week with a purple sheet of paper. "Mom, we have to fill this out and return it tomorrow. Mrs. Duffy is gonna pick someone to keep the tadpoles over Spring Break." Ummm, I don't really want them here. "Come on mom, they're easy." She decided to ask Josh about it, I am shaking my head and he completely ignores me and says who cares, we probably won't get picked. So we fill it out, and she comes home on Thursday and says SHE GOT PICKED. I was very LESS THAN THRILLED. I see Mrs. Duffy at conferences that afternoon and told her the story, that we don't have good luck with animals, but yes we would take them.

The directions were easy enough.
1. Feed them every other day.
2. Clean out/change the water once a week.
3. Put in some cleaning stuff with the new water.

Mrs. Duffy had done everything when we got them on Friday and brought them home. 3 of them in a little water tank thingy. No feeding them on Saturday. Feed them first thing Sunday morning. A couple small of shakes of food and we were done.

Normal day, church, dinner at grandma and grandpas, check on the tadpoles, one is upside down.....what???...Yes folks....in a record breaking 48hours, we have managed to kill one of the 3 classroom tadpoles. How does that happen???

I know it's not funny, but that is soo funny. I laughed out loud, then read it to Todd and we both laughed out loud. You didn't say, but how did Kylee take the news??

That is just plain bad luck! But so funny! I hope Kylee is doing ok with it and I hope the other two survive the week. If not, then it's not bad luck, it's you, not the tad poles! :) Funny post!

No way! I never want pets for that exact reason. How can you break a little kids heart telling them their little furry friend,or slimy one in this case, is dead! It's way too sad! Good luck the rest of the week!

I feel kind of guilty for laughing, but just the irony of it all! Atleast you forwarned Mrs. Duffy so that it won't be a complete shock! You probably got picked because no other moms were brave enough to return the sign up sheet :) Hopefully Kylee survives the traumatic loss!

Exactly why I didn't return a sign up sheet for Lexi's class. Yikes that would so happen to us or Elijah would have reached in and eaten them or something.
