I can't believe my baby is 2 today. It just doesn't seem real. Just like I did with Kylee, last month, I want to have recorded my memories of the day Kruz came to live with us in this world.
My actual due date was March 11th. It was a Saturday, actually the Saturday that started my Spring Break. For me being a teacher, that was a BIG DEAL. The school system only gives you 6 weeks maternity leave. And they aren't even PAID weeks, so this extra week off was IMPORTANT. It was also important for another reason. On the 25 of the month, we were moving into our NEW HOUSE. So EVERYDAY was important. I had already discussed the situation with my doctor (who doesn't believe in inducing, unless it is an emergency), and as my time got closer, and I was healthy, and my past 2 deliveries were healthy, he understood my situation and agreed to induce me.
Now just so you know.... I wasn't truly in favor of getting induced either, but in this case, we felt it the right decision since it was spring break for Josh also and work was giving him the week off.
So, I of course, worked on Friday March 10th, and Saturday morning came and the hospital was FULL, of course, why should I be so lucky. It was raining Crazy that day, I wasn't feeling very good I actually went to urgent care because I panicked that I might have a bladder infection.
**Just a side note. Most of you know that I have kidney stones, but I must record that I passed quite a few with this pregnancy and it was taking a toll on my body. So I went to urgent care and they confirmed that I DID NOT have a UTI. But as luck would have it, about 4 hours later, I had passed my 13th and final kidney stone. (or so I thought.) I'll come back to that later.
So anyways, the hospital was too busy to let me in and Saturday came and went. Sunday was the same and we just waited around. Josh took the girls to our final Sunday in our ward, I was just too emotionally drained. We went across the street to our friends house for dinner, since our kitchen was being packed away, and then the lucky phone call came. It was 6:00pm and we were able to go to the hospital. I called my parents, we finished eating, and we were at the hospital at 6:45.
We were told from the very beginning as we were getting checked in, that I would deliver in the morning. My doctor wasn't on call and wasn't coming in, in the middle of the night to deliver a baby. OK, I could understand that. So they gave me slow amounts of ??? whatever the medicine is, gave me an epidural, and basically Josh and I slept for the majority of the night. I was in no pain at all, and actually quite comfortable, until about 3:30am. My legs were numb and I was not happy. They woke up the anastigiologists, and he came in and unhooked my epidural. Not feeling my legs was the one thing I didn't want to happen. I was freaked out about not feeling the delivery. Everything was great, the nurses were so excited for the delivery. Oh yes, remember, we don't find out what we are having. It was about 5:30 and they said the Doctor was on his way.
We were feeling anxious. We had a girls name and a boy name picked out this time, but we were pretty sure this would be another girl. My pregnancy was easy, just like the first two. The doctor came, and I had two easy pushes. At 6:02 am out this little baby came. Josh let out a huge yes!!! and pumped his fists in the air, I started to cry as the doctor laid this tiny 7lb 8oz. 20 1/2 in. BABY BOY on my chest and the nurses that had been with me all night were smiling and laughing and explaining to the new nurses, that were beginning their shifts at 6:00am, that we didn't know we were having a boy.
Kruz on his Birth Day
I was in shock, I could hardly believe it. Josh composed himself and went to the waiting room to get the girls who were waiting there with my parents, and brought them back to the room. We gave them the news, changed them into their BLUE shirts (we had pink ones also) and they went back to the waiting room to give the news.
My parents and Aunt Abby were the first to know, and this was the way we let everyone know that came to the hospital to see us. It was fun for the girls, and fun for Josh. I just enjoyed seeing the HUGE SMILE on everyone's faces as they came into our room.
Kruz on his 1st Birthday
Kruz on his 2nd Birthday
Words He Is Saying:
Mom, Dada, Josh, Shanna(that's me), up, more, mo(no), pease(please), bye, hi, out, off, bamma(grandma), Kruz, bib, eee(eat), pups, cow, mooo, bum, wee wee (sorry I don't know who taught him this one,)
Things I love most:
He is my cuddler, I will take this for as long as I can.
He just lights up when he sees me.
He gets so excited when he sees a bird or airplane.
He pats my cheek and says "hi mom" each time I get him out of bed.
He will sit on my lap and just relax on me, he is so content doing this. ( My girls NEVER did this.)
He RUNS to the door when he hears the garage open, he is soo happy to see whoever walks in.
He can't go to bed at night without his pups.
At night I get to rock him in his chair during prayers and singing "I am a Child of God"
He loves his cars and trucks and often lines them up in a big row in his room.
He adores his sisters and they love him.
I know there are so many more things. He has been such a blessing to have in our home. We love you Kruz so much. Happy Birthday
