"Survival" Movie

Do you know what your "survival" movie is??? You know...the tv show, or movie you can turn on at any time during the day and your child, or children will just sit and watch it, and you can do something else. I for sure know what my girls' "movie" was. I am a bit embarrassed to say, but I will never forget Kylee was about 1 1/2 and I was pregnant with Kobi and luckily I wasn't sick at all, but I was EXTREMELY tired. It was summer time and I wasn't working, and I just couldn't pull myself out of bed at 6AM when she woke up. So yes, I would get up, get her a dry bowl of cereal, her sippy cup of milk, and turn on LEGALLY BLONDE. Yes, LEGALLY BLONDE. I would get back in bed, for 2 more hours. And I did this almost daily.

Kobi was a bit tougher. She didn't love tv for a long time. But I remember most with her, that in the afternoons I would come home from school, again pregnant with Kruz and desperately needing a nap, and I would turn on the new Parent Trap. Kylee had started All Day Kindergarten, so she was gone and Kobi was fighting naps. She loved that movie, even after Kruz was born, Kobi's quiet time was always in the playroom for 2 hours with Parent Trap.

And now I have my Kruzie. My little boy who is quickly turning into ALL boy. Climbing everywhere, never can sit still, always jumping on things and recently I now have a "survival" movie for Kruz. I have had a rough couple of days and because Kruz has discovered his new freedom in climbing out of his crib, he is in our room at 6AM. I am most certainly not getting up at 6:00 on the weekend, and today I hurt so bad I couldn't go into work, and so I am sure over the past 3 days we have seen the movie HAIRSPRAY in this house AT LEAST a dozen times. I was able to get off the couch for just a few minutes today to get these pictures, sorry they aren't the greatest, but basically this movie is played ALL DAY LONG. I can get in the shower, be on the computer, or in my case today, sleep on the couch, and I know my son isn't going anywhere.

So what is your "Survival" Movie??? I would love to know.

Your kids have great taste in movies! If someone popped Legally Blonde or Hairspray in the dvd player, I too would be mesmerized for 2 hours.

Those are hilarious movies for them to be "in" to! Mine just all love the cartoon stuff.

Why do you hurt so badly? It's been a long time since we caught up and I was confused by that! I hope you are o.k.

I feel your anguish with the early-rising boy who can escape his bed in the wee hours of the morning!

How in the world do they come up with these movies? I don't think my kids have been around when we've watched any adult movies. And by "adult" I mean any movie that isn't a cartoon! I wonder if they'd like Hairspray. I figure the singing would be a big draw, and I know I sure could use a dose of a grown-up movie!

Wow, I'm glad you have a good chiro to "straighten" you out....you know I'm a big fan of chiros as I have one as a hubby! :) I'm sad that we won't be able to hook up with you in Seattle...we leave on our Hawaiian vacation on May 10th! At least we'll both be on boats at the same time! :) Enjoy your vacation!

Your kids movies are funny! My kids loved TV more than movies. Chase did love the Donny Osmond version of Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.

I'm stealing this idea for a post...I hope you don't mind!

With Nevan it was Bear in the Big Blue House until he was about 2 and then it was STAR WARS all the way!

Mayzie was THE LAST UNICORN and SPIRIT for about 4 years. Now it is PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.

Meeka still loves THE LITTLE EINSTEINS, but that's a bummer because they are only 1/2 an hour long!

We have weekly favs it seems. Ica Age is always a hit, Surf's Up is on top of the list, and lately a mini Little People's DVD that came with one of his toys. I'm like Nicole though, I'm going to throw Hairspray in one of these days too. Apparently Dax loves High School Musical according to my friend who watched him last year!

HA! Well of course Harry Potter is Koston's. Brayden went through nonstop repeat phase..first was Nemo, then Toy Story, then Cars.
