What's a Mom to do???

Kruz LOVES his pups!! Anyone that knows him, knows he is attached to this thing. My girls didn't ever have something that they just couldn't live without. But he does. Very early on I noticed the attachment. He was given this puppy from my mom when he was born. I had to sew his belly back together soon after he got it, but other than that, for over two years now, this is the reason he can fall asleep quickly. And besides that, we can go anywhere, he can take naps at anyone's house, and he can stay the night ANYWHERE, as long as the "pups" is with him. He holds it, and shoves it's face into his mouth. This pups has had plenty of baths (washing machine), the first time was traumatic, but he loves watching his pups get all clean now.

His puppy is in perfect shape, except for the face. The eyes and nose are scratched (from biting it), and one eye and the nose are starting to rip from the rest of the material. I started to PANIC. Oh no!!!. Well good think I was a sharp thinker way over a year ago. I googled online the name of the store (before the label wore off) and saved it on my "favorites."

So I make the executive decision (without Josh's consent because he would have told me that this was just a good time to get rid of it) ( I wasn't ready to hear that yet.) to order a new one. So I got online, started to fill in my information, and my computer froze. So I dialed the 800 # and when someone answered,
  • I told them the style #,

  • gave them my address,

  • gave them the credit card number

  • she repeated it back

  • and she says ok "your elephant should be shipped out this afternoon"

  • "My what??" "I don't want an elephant, I want a dog."

  • "Dog?" she says.
  • "Yes, Davy Dog"

  • She says, "Oh, that item is discontinued."

  • "WHAT?? I am looking at it online right now."

  • "oh, our website isn't always up to date."

OK, you can maybe image the rest of our conversation, I was so sad. I hung up and started googling the pups and I CAN'T FIND ONE ANYWHERE.

That is so sad. I never wanted my kids to be attached to anything for the very reason that one day I would have to take it away. Good luck!

Hey Shanen! This is Erin Butler from the old U2 ward. I got here from Allison's blog. Anyway, what was the website you tried? I just found a couple that might be different than what you tried. Email me at erinwillis3girls at gmail dot com and I will send you the links.

Go to www.Kartoo.com. It's an inventory search engine. When I really need a hard to find item, I go there. Seriously, try it. That's how I found our bed (which I had been in love with for two years when I discovered it had been discontinued that whole time), some odd, hard-to-find foods that my family eats (but can't be bought in stores), more of my coffee dispensers (the ones I have all the ice cream toppings in on the walls of my kitchen) even though they were antiques that had been cease-manufactured 50 years or more ago, etc. Kartoo is your friend, and possibly your only hope. :)

AWWW! Yes it breaks my heart, we are going through the same thing over here. Kosty has been attached to his blankie for-ever. We just sewed a hole, now there is another, it is the dingiest looking old ratty thing you have ever seen! (i'm sure you've seen it) and I wash it every week. The parts that were white are dark grey, it just looks pathetic. I tried to get a duplicate soon after I realized which blankie was "the one" but same thing, discontinued. I found one on ebay, but it was the pink girl version. BOO! Have your tried ebay though? you never know. Those pictures are just adorable though, oh my goodness. So cute.

I wonder if it's a boy thing. Dylan wasn't that way about any stuffed animals, but she is now about her baby doll. Isaac on the other hand loves his puppy too. And I remember Cole with his horse. They were inseperable. I love all the pictures you have of Kruz with his pups. If a dog is mans best friend, then a puppy must be a boys best friend.

That breaks my heart! Coming from a mama who's girls are very attached to certain things, I hope you can come up with something soon! Maybe a real pup will do the trick!
