" I wanna be..."

A few days ago I was thinking about Halloween and knew that I needed to get on the ball with costumes. I had an idea in my head but decided to ask the girls what they wanted to be. Without ANY hesitation Kobi responds "I wanna be a mermaid, then I can show off my belly." What?? Where did I go wrong? Kylee grew up never wanting to show her belly. We always did the "raise your arms" trick, and if the belly showed, the shirt was too small. The rule doesn't always apply to Kobi. She likes her belly showing and I don't know how to get past this. So you can imagine I Vetoed the idea of a mermaid real quick. I know she wants to look like this...

but I am hoping when she sees that a Little Girl Mermaid Costume has to look like this...
she will change her mind.
Cross your fingers!

Kobi is too funny. Good luck with keeping the girl covered!

Good luck with that! It's funny and also a little scary how early kids pick up on "fashion". Hopefully her big sis will continue to be a good influence on her, if not I'm sure her dad will make sure she is dressed appropriately!

That just cracks me up. Apparently, if it's not pink camo, it's baring the belly, huh? Good luck convincing her to change her mind.

OK, I had to go back to last year and check out her Dora costume...I was sure it showed her belly. Not so much. That is so funny she is already aware of baring skin. I think you're in trouble.

Oh man, and this is JUST the beginning! Are you already having nightmares for the teenage years? I know I am! Thankfully (my) Kylie has an outie and she's too emberassed to let it show, so I may get off easy on that one. Good luck!

Have fun with that!! My older two were modest until they turned five, and then they loved to dress up in scarves tied as tube tops. But my youngest is insanely modest and won't even undress at the doctors unless I cover her in a blanket. So, they all come different, I guess!

Hi Shanen! I found your blog! Why does every girl want to be Ariel and show her belly? That is so cute. I always wanted to be a hula dancer with the coconut bra when I was a kid. For some reason my mom never let me have that costume!

Uggggh did I mention I am skipping this whole Halloween thing.

I just don't have the energy to deal with this.... NOW CHRISTMAS I CAN HANDLE!

I guess I need to get the blow up stuff out now since you mentioned it yesterday!

Is there such a thing as a Halloween Scrooge?
